A tapping-mode phase atomic force microscopy (AFM) image of polystyrene nanoparticles spun-coated onto a mica substrate is viewed. The average size of the polystyrene nanoparticles is 120 nm. But the nanoparticles suffered from an interaction with the chloroform solvent which started to deform the normal spherical geometry of the nanoparticles. The idea of placing eyes and mouth into the nanoparticles took place due to the look of those melted nanoparticles behaving like tiny heads with hair. The “nano eyes and mouth” are virtually the sizes of ~20 nm were added to the image using the paint software from windows.
